Ute Engelkenmeier ist promovierte Bibliotheks- und Informationswissenschaftlerin und arbeitet als stellvertretende Direktion der Universitätsbibliothek Dortmund mit dem Schwerpunkt Information und Lernort. Sie ist seit 2018 Vorsitzende des Bundesvorstands des Berufsverband Information Bibliothek e.V. (BIB) sowie im Vorstand des Dachverbands Bibliothek & Information Deutschland (BID). Sie ist zudem Mitglied in der DINI AG Lernräume und Mitherausgeberin des Handbuchs Bibliothekspädagogik (2024).
