Requirements (if any)There are no formal requirements to join this workshop - Although some ability to understand simple English is needed to follow the exercises, it is conducted in easy-to-follow ‘International English’. Whilst every effort is made to support all levels of English ability, this course is not suitable for absolute beginners.
ObjectivesTo build confidence, to refresh the memory of English learnt long ago, to practice necessary conversational skills to help users, to learn useful librarians vocabulary, and to gain experience with dealing with typical everyday questions.
Contents You will learn the specific vocabulary needed to answer book lending enquiries and explain typical library procedures, including online sources.
Common phrases and idioms are practised over the two days in role-play and learning games. A small homework assignment between the two sessions provides additional practice.
The trainer has a warm, friendly and approachable style which makes it easy for you to practice speaking English.
