Contents of the workshop
In recent years, two major violent conflicts have shaped the global landscape: the war between Russia and Ukraine in Europe and the war involving Israel, the Palestinians, and their allies in the Middle East. These conflicts have directly and indirectly affected students, faculty, and academic institutions. This workshop, led by an educator from Jerusalem with firsthand experience of these challenges, will examine key dilemmas faced by higher education administrators and educators. Participants will explore practical strategies and alternative approaches informed by both the facilitator’s expertise and the collective insights of the group.
Some of the topics we will be covering are:
- Understanding the needs and sensitivities of students from conflict zones
- Developing intercultural awareness and fostering inclusive learning environments
- Navigating faculty relationships and building trust in times of conflict

- Balancing free speech with other institutional values
Aim:
