This German course is offered as a joint initiative by the Center for Continuing Education at Freie Universität Berlin and the Language Centre of the University of Bologna within the UNA Europa university alliance.
It is aimed at both complete beginners and participants with basic knowledge of German. Half of the course places are reserved for colleagues from the University of Bologna, creating an international and collaborative learning environment.
Target group
Employees of Freie Universität Berlin and the University of Bologna, as well as external participants.
Requirements
- No prior knowledge of German required
- Stable internet connection, camera, headset
Contents
The course follows the standards of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) for level A1. Contents include:
- Understanding and using everyday expressions and basic phrases
- Introducing yourself and others
- Asking for and answering simple questions about personal details (e.g. living situation, employment, interests)
- Building basic vocabulary for daily and professional contexts

Methods
Discussion rounds, grammar input, practical exercises, task-based learning, small-group work, and an online learning platform with additional materials.
